Anne Gunning’s career spans more than 20 years. From her start in “traditional” types of public relations, designing and executing regional and national media relations and public information programs, Anne has expanded her skill-set to include extensive expertise in helping organizations understand, work with, and communicate to internal and external stakeholders. She has applied these skills to facilitating client strategy development, launching a women-in-business initiative and providing strategic planning for complex organizations.
A principal at Kearns & West, Anne has deep experience and expertise across all of the firm’s practice areas, including neutral facilitation, stakeholder analysis, and communications strategy and program development.
She has been a key figure in many communications and stakeholder involvement programs, doing work for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, USDA Forest Service, Department of Homeland Security, US Department of Agriculture, Dominion, Duke Power, Columbia and the Edison Electric Institute. She has a special expertise in advising clients how to work with their stakeholders when siting or making major revisions to energy and other facilities. Although Anne’s communications strategy and media relations experience has been primarily with energy and telecommunications clients, she brings her expertise as senior counsel to Kearns & West clients in all industries.
Anne is based in the firm’s Washington, DC office. She is a graduate of Boston University’s School of Public Communication and earned an MBA from Bentley College. She is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America.
