Mobilizing Messages and Support

Chaat Butsunturn
Director
cbutsunturn@kearnswest.com

Chaat Butsunturn has more than ten years’ experience promoting companies, products, brands and policy for high technology, telecommunications and consulting clients. His work involves defining and understanding stakeholders and target audiences; developing messages to explain complex issues and ideas; and general public and media relations.

As a director with Kearns & West, Chaat’s work is focused on framing messages and obtaining coverage in local, regional, and national media. Chaat manages development and execution of public relations campaigns, ally mobilization, press conferences with state legislators, message development for academic and consulting research, and media relations and writing for other reputation building projects. He works for a range of companies, from the telecommunications and Internet sectors to University research and consulting.

Adept at mastering dynamic political, business, or issue landscapes and developing communications for various target audiences, Chaat has generated top tier media coverage across business, consumer, and trade press, including BusinessWeek, CNET News.com, CNN, The Economist, Investor’s Business Daily, New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post. He attributes his success to being able to make the connection between his clients, their target audiences, and the needs of the media. Clients who need to communicate directly with stakeholders, government officials, and regulators also benefit from Chaat’s ability to synthesize complex material.

Chaat is based in Kearns & West’s San Francisco office. He graduated from Skidmore College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Government. Before joining Kearns & West, he worked on political campaigns and served as scheduler for a California Assembly majority leader. He also worked in high technology and biotechnology public relations.
