Paul Silder is a seasoned strategic communications professional with more than 22 years experience including the first 10 years as a newspaper journalist in Chicago. Since 1995, he has worked at marketing firms throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, distinguishing himself in the areas of communications strategies, media relations and brand development.
As a Director at Kearns & West, Paul spearheads the company's stakeholder outreach and communications efforts on the Department of Homeland Security's Secure Border Initiative (SBI). Paul plans and executes a full array of communications services for this Customs and Border Protection program, and serves as the lead strategist on a number of long-term outreach projects.
Paul’s strategic communications clients range from civilian federal government and Department of Defense agencies to private sector companies specializing in the IT industry. He also has extensive experience supporting association and non-profit entities. He has directed change management communications on behalf of the private sector for large-scale Army acquisition projects such as the General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS). Other clients include: Appian Corporation, Xerox Public Sector, Cox Communications, Verizon Wireless Federal, The Stephen Case Foundation, National Foundation for Credit Counseling, U.S. Coast Guard, and various U.S. Army and Army Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS) projects.
Under his leadership, his accounts have earned ADDY (Advertising Club of Metropolitan Washington), Vision (For Excellence in TV, Radio, and Web Production), WebAward (Web Marketing Association), and Silver Inkwell (International Association of Business Communicators) awards.
Paul holds a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Marquette University. He and his wife, Helen, live in Potomac, MD with their two sons, T.J. and Jack.
